Our Story

Tender Caring Hands was founded by love and compassion who experienced firsthand the challenge of finding truly compassionate care for an aging parent. After years of searching for a place that felt like home — not a facility — they It all began in 2004 when Nadine and Verina first met at an apartment complex. Verina was working in the leasing office as a leasing agent when Nadine came in searching for an apartment. What started as a routine interaction quickly became something more. Nadine began stopping by the office regularly, and through these visits, a genuine friendship formed. Over time, Nadine stopped coming by. Concerned, Verina eventually went to check on her and discovered that Nadine had suffered a stroke. She was no longer herself—she had lost strength in one arm, and her speech was slurred. Verina was devastated. Without hesitation, she stepped in to help however she could—bringing Nadine food, shopping for her, checking on her regularly, and making sure she was safe and cared for. In 2006, Verina left her position at the apartment complex to begin a new job about 20 miles away. She promised Nadine she would stay in touch—but life got busy, and unfortunately, she did not keep that promise. Still, Nadine remained in Verina’s heart. Years later, Verina returned to the complex to look for her, but there was no answer. Life moved forward, and in 2013, Verina’s 95-year-old grandfather suffered a major stroke that left him paralyzed and in need of 24-hour care. Soon after, her 87-year-old grandmother, who had dementia, also required full-time support. Verina and her mother tried to manage everything on their own while working full-time but caring for two chronically ill loved ones became overwhelming. They decided to seek help through a caregiving agency. Several caregivers were sent, but none met Verina’s expectations. Her grandparents were her heart. She had been raised by them along with her mother, and she was fiercely protective of their well-being. After voicing her concerns, the agency assured her they had someone exceptional. Verina requested to interview the caregiver personally. The day of the interview, Verina walked into her grandparents’ home—and standing there was Nadine. Neither of them could believe it. They embraced tightly, overwhelmed with emotion. Verina knew without a doubt that God had answered her prayers. She had asked the Lord to send someone with true care and compassion—and He sent Nadine back into her life. Nadine became a blessing beyond words. She provided loving, attentive care to both grandparents, handling a demanding role with grace and compassion. She eased an enormous burden for Verina and her mother and quickly became family. On April 7, 2015, Verina’s grandfather passed away. Nadine was there during his final moments and stood beside the family through the funeral arrangements. She continued caring for Verina’s grandmother until October 28, 2021, when she passed away at 99 years old. For over a decade, Verina’s life revolved around working and then caring for her grandparents. Through countless hospital visits, rehab centers, and nursing facilities, she witnessed firsthand how many seniors lacked advocates, family, and compassion. She saw how often the elderly are overlooked, mistreated, or forgotten. Doctors encouraged her many times to “give up,” but Verina refused. She became her grandparents’ voice and defender. That experience changed her life forever. Nadine remained close to Verina and her family—sharing dinners, conversations, and an unbreakable bond. Then in 2025, Verina shared a vision with Nadine: opening a home for seniors. Nadine was amazed—and revealed she had the same dream. Together, they began planning Tender Caring Hands, LLC. Their vision is to create an independent living home for non-medical seniors, providing assistance with daily living while preserving dignity and independence. The goal is to offer safe, private residential housing designed for seniors who desire a fulfilling lifestyle enriched with social, recreational, and educational opportunities, without the stress of home maintenance or daily responsibilities. With over 15 years of personal caregiving experience from Verina and over 30 years of professional caregiving experience from Nadine, they bring both heart and expertise to their mission. They are deeply committed to serving the senior community with compassion, respect, and love. Even the name Tender Caring Hands, LLC felt divinely guided. Independently, both women wrote down potential business names—and “Caring Hands” was their first choice. When they discovered the name was already widely used, they added a word that fully captured their mission: Tender. to create one themselves.

Our vision may have started small, but now our home has grown into a full-service senior care community, but our heart has never changed. Every decision we make, every staff member we hire, every meal we prepare is guided by one simple question: would we want this for our own family?
